A little bit about me

I was a senior broadcast journalist at the BBC World Service for 20 years.

I travelled to mostly African countries to produce digital and online pieces, radio programmes and documentaries. For three years, I was the reporter in Zambia.

Since going freelance in 2021, I have produced and hosted podcast series for the BBC World Service, Kenya-based AQ Studios, openDemocracy and the UN’s environmental programme.

I also train journalists in audio production - from how to record the best quality voices and sounds to structuring and writing for audio.

Clients include the BBC World Service, broadcasters in Kenya, Zambia and Malawi, and Somalia’s female-only media organisation, Bilan Media.

I am the chair of Share-UK, an oral history group in east London.

Between 2019-2021, I served on the advisory board for Making African Connections, which researched historic African collections held in museums in Sussex and Kent, UK.

I grew up in Zambia and I live in London.

I love history, photography, music, travel, swimming, fabrics and colour. And I am learning about the art of batik.
